What better way to spend part of your weekend than to join us on an invigorating bike ride? We will leave on our ride no later than 10:05 with an expected return time of 10:45. As with any ride, several items are needed to make your trip as comfortable as possible. In addition to your bike (smile) and helmet, you may wish to bring: bottled water, a towel and a charged cell phone. Usually, I travel with a backpack to comfortably carry my supplies.
Jester's Creek Trail would be considered an easy to moderate one. This serene trail will take us along a tree-lined path that is 90% covered. Its winding curves, paved roads, and wooden bridges will carry us over Jester's creek itself, as we make our way from Battle Creek Rd. to Mount Zion.
Thank you to Rebecca Serna, Executive Director of Atlanta Bicycle Campaign, for supporting our efforts to make Clayton County (our special part of Metro Atlanta) a premiere biking community! These "first rides" are times that will be fondly remembered when our little group grows into something truly inspiring. Come join us as we ride our way into better health for ourselves and for our community!

Do you have a map of the route? I use bikely.com to enter my routes.
A couple of the groups I ride with come down to Clayton County from Intown Atlanta (Virginia-Highland and Little Five Points). I wouldn't mind seeking out Jester's Creek Trail.
Jett,
I feel like I have searched the Internet over to no avail. It appears that there are no trail maps on the Internet for Jester's Creek Bike Trail. Jester's Creek is Clayton's first bike trail and is in its infancy (compared to others in the Metro Atlanta area). I will continue to search for a map.
Thank you for the bikely.com tip. It appears to be an extremely resourceful site.
Location - Jester's Creek Trailhead is begins in the parking area of the Clayton County Headquarters on Battle Creek Rd. and ends on Mt. Zion Blvd.
Is the Clayton County HQ to the east or west of Jonesboro Road (Hwy 54)? Trying to get a feel for if we would approach from Ellenwood/Rex or from Forest Park via Ash Street.
Battlecreek is actually off of Hwy 54 (Jonesboro Rd)south of I-75...past Sam's Wholesale Club. It would be the next major intersection. Turn right onto Battlecreek and the library/trailhead can be seen (to the left) from the first traffic light.
It is approximately one mile one-way; however, it could be extended by traveling to Southlake Mall.
Have a great week biking, Jett.
If it goes toward Southlake Mall, it looks like the trail would end at Mt. Zion Rd instead of Mt. Zion Blvd., right?
If this is the case, we would probably approach the trail via this Bikely route from Forest Park and Ash Street.
Our other route would approach from Ellenwood/Rex.
Jett...
You are absolutely right. The end of the trail is Mt. Zion ROAD near Tara Elementary. As far as the map that you linked to your comment, I really could not say. Unfortunately, you may have to DRIVE it to confirm your directions.
Cindy
Hey Cindy, I'm down that way on my bike far more often than in a car. It's way more fun to explore on a bike than a car anyway ;-).
We rode the Forest Park route this last Sunday and followed a portion of this route. This linked route is how I would get to Tara Elementary, and the southern end of the route is what I imagine would be the Jester Creek Trail.
It doesn't extend south of Battle Creek, does it? Looks like it could hit Jester Creek Park if it did.
This looks like a busy road next to the mall, but I would guess that the crossing at the school would be the preferred route for cyclists.
I'll have to check it out now that I know how to get there. Thanks for clearing up the confusion I had over Mt. Zion Road and Mt. Zion Blvd.
Jett,
Thank you for the map. I followed the route this weekend and found it to be an excellent, uncongested connector between Starr Park and Jester's Creek Trail.
The trail extends a little past the main library; however, it is a dead end (for now). Plans are underway to extend it.
As for the busy intersection at Tara E.S., that would be Mt. Zion Rd. The traffic light is generally consistent and the intersection is relatively safe.
Thanks again, for the wonderful map. I joined the bikely site. It's a wonderful resource.
